In the Delhi excise policy case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has decided not to insist on questioning K Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, until her petition challenging the summons is heard by the Supreme Court. Kavitha had been summoned by the ED to appear for questioning in New Delhi in connection with the alleged scam related to the now-defunct Delhi excise policy. However, she contested the summons in the Supreme Court, arguing that she should not be required to appear for questioning in another state.
The ED has informed the Supreme Court that it will not require Kavitha to appear before the agency for the next 10 days or until her petition is heard by the court.
The Delhi excise policy case revolves around allegations of irregularities in the issuance of liquor licenses in the national capital. The ED has already arrested several individuals in connection with this case, including Vijay Nair, a former aide to Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
Kavitha has maintained her innocence in this case and suggested that she is being targeted by the BJP-led central government due to her father's opposition to the party. The outcome of her petition and any further developments in the case will depend on the Supreme Court's decision and ongoing investigations.
